Raising twins, triplets, or higher-order multiples is an
amazing experience. But let's face it, along with double or
triple (or more) the joy, comes double or triple (or more)
the diapers, the crying, and the money needed for college.
Singleton moms can empathize, but only another mom of
multiples can truly understand the nuances of raising kids
the same age.
The South Hills of Pittsburgh Mothers of Multiples
(SHOPMOMs) is more than just moms getting together to talk
about their children and share parenting tips. It's about
amazing women who share a common bond, have fun together,
and form lasting friendships. It's about support when you
need it most. It's about knowing you're not alone and that
you don't have to reinvent the wheel of raising multiples.
SHOPMOMs members have been there, done that, and got the
t-shirt. Join our club and get your t-shirt!
Organized in 1968, SHOPMOMs serves the southern suburbs of
the Greater Pittsburgh area. We have monthly meetings that
are educational, involving organized group discussions and
speakers on issues of child care and personal well being.
Other times we shift the focus of our monthly meetings to
purely social and mom/girl talk. In addition to the regular
monthly meetings, we sponsor many social events, including
play dates, freezer meal-making parties, holiday parties,
MOM’s Nights Out, and family picnics.
We connect with each other frequently through private
Facebook groups. These groups are a great place to ask
questions, get advice, tell stories, search for items you
may need, pass along items your children have outgrown, or
talk about spur of the moment or planned events.
